Road Dogg Talks Charlotte Flair’s On-Screen Split From Ric Flair

While Ric Flair was a major part of Charlotte Flair‘s on-screen presence early on in her wrestling career, the time would come for Charlotte to fly on her own.

Charlotte Flair had Ric Flair by her side during her first NXT Women’s Championship win, her first WWE Divas Championship win, and her first WrestleMania, the time came in 2016 for Charlotte to go off on her own and continue to make history as she would do throughout the bulk of her career.

On his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, Brian “Road Dogg” James spoke about the Flairs on-screen split, Road Dogg says Charlotte was likely torn as she entered the crossroads in her career.

You know, I think she was torn, and I don’t think she showed it a lot. But I think she was torn as, this is my time, and this is the prime time of my career. And here I am, in his shadow again, you know what I mean?

Or I can understand her thinking that, because I relate and that maybe insecurities talking, but maybe I just I just feel like I felt at times, I wish I could just do this on my own. You know what mean? I think it is too, no matter whose father, brother, sister, whatever, like, man, I love teaming with you. But God, I’d love to get out on my own. You know, just and then the band breaks up.

In the past, Charlotte Flair has spoken out about the frustration she’s felt about having to overcome her father’s shadow. “The Queen” has, however, gone on to consistently make history and rack up more WWE-specific accolades than her legendary father.

Speaking of her legendary father, Ric Flair will be the subject of a Peacock/WWE Network documentary premiering on Monday, December 26. Learn more about that here.
