AEW’s stacked roster continues to expand, but a recent report has suggested that one of the companies’ newest signings could be set to receive a significant push into the main event picture.

Konosuke Takeshita first began appearing for All Elite Wrestling back in April of 2022 while on excursion from Japan, where he regularly appeared for DDT Pro Wrestling, and immediately impressed the American audiences with his eye-catching in-ring work.

Takeshita made a name for himself during highly-acclaimed bouts against the likes of Hangman Adam Page, Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley in AEW. The Japanese sensation often came up short in his more high profile contests in America, but he looks set for a significant push upon his return to the company.

Takeshita Set To Be Featured As A “Top Tier Guy” In AEW

After a brief stint back in Japan, Konosuke Takeshita returned to AEW in November and was shortly thereafter announced as officially signing with Tony Khan’s company.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has reported that there are “significant plans” for Takeshita to be featured in the main event scene in the coming months in AEW.

Meltzer wrote:

“Although he’s not being featured on television right now, and when he is, he’s there to lose to the top stars in great matches, there are significant plans for Takeshita to be pushed as a top tier guy. Obviously the Don Callis scouting storyline looks to be a catalyst in some form”

It was revealed on this past Wednesday’s Dynamite that Takeshita will be facing off against Bryan Danielson on next week’s show.

Takeshita’s most recent appearance in AEW came on the December 21st edition of Dark: Elevation, where he successfully defeated former SCU member Frankie Kazarian.
