Bryan Danielson Dream Match Announced For AEW WrestleDream

Bryan Danielson will be in action in a much-anticipated rematch at AEW WrestleDream.

Tony Khan announced the creation of WrestleDream during the post-All In Media scrum. The event will be held on October 1st in Seattle, Washington, and will serve as a tribute to the founder of New Japan Pro Wrestling, Antonio Inoki.

The build to the event began on the latest edition of Collision. After admitting that his time in the ring was “running out,” Danielson let it be known that he was planning to make the next year “the most epic of his career.” With that, he laid down a challenge for the man who claims to be the best wrestler in the world, Zack Sabre Jr.

Later in the night, Tony Khan made the match official for WrestleDream.

The bout was originally scheduled to happen at Forbidden Door in 2022 and both Danielson and ZSJ had already made their intentions of facing each other clear in the months prior to the show.

Unfortunately, Danielson suffered a concussion at that year’s Double or Nothing event and was unable to compete against Sabre Jr. Instead, Claudio Castagnoli made his debut at the AEWxNJPW supershow and defeated the Englishman.

“In the bout originally scheduled for the inaugural #ForbiddenDoor
the world’s 2 most renowned technical wrestlers go 1-on-1 at AEW WrestleDream!”

When did Bryan Danielson last face Zack Sabre Jr?

Danielson and ZSJ last clashed back in 2009 at Westside Xtreme Wrestling’s Carat Gold event. On that occasion, it was Sabre Jr who came out on top.

In the years since, the stars have firmly established themselves as two of the best technical wrestlers in the world, so their rematch is sure to be an instant classic.
