Jake Roberts Blasts Former WWE Star For Smelling “Like Baby Puke”; December 11th Wrestling News Round-Up

A lot has been made of CM Punk’s AEW exit and WWE return but what does his former right hand man Ace Steel think about it all.

Well, in a new interview with Rip Rogers, Steel commented on what took place during the AEW brawl and how multiple people were unable to speak about it except for his wife.

Steel also joked that the story will be retold in documentary form in the future:

“Well, I worked with a lot of great people, some great, some not so much.

Family still exists in this business, there are things none of us can say, and none of us will, you know, I think my wife’s the only one who could probably tell the story since she was there.

Maybe someday. You don’t f*ck with family. We came out just fine. You might hear something; I’m sure it’s gonna be on f*cking Dark Side of the Ring someday; I laughed at the time, going, ‘All this sh*t’s gonna be on Dark Side of the Ring someday,’ you know, someone’s going to want to know.”

How has CM Punk’s WWE return gone down backstage? According to one star… they’ve heard mixed reviews.

The latest Superstar to be asked about Punk’s return was Braun Strowman. As The Monster Among Men debuted on the main roster in 2015, Punk was already gone from the company at this point.

Speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestle Binge, Strowman stated that he has not formed a full opinion on Punk but will when the two inevitably meet for the first time:

“He’s doing his job. At the end of the day, our job is to put eyes on the product and butts in the seats and well, it looks like he’s doing it. I’ve heard mixed reviews from multiple people on what kind of person he is. I’ll find out when I meet him and he can get in line and get these hands just like anybody else.” [h/t WrestlingNewsCo]

When I started writing about wrestling I never thought I would have to write about Taylor Swift once… never mind three times but here we are.

Taylor Swift has bled (with bad blood) into the world of wrestling once again and we cannot simply shake it off without telling you all about it.

Baron Corbin was defeated at NXT Deadline but he is certainly winning at life as he found himself in the VIP box of the Kansas City Chiefs recent NFL regular season fixture against the Buffalo Bills.

Corbin was joined by fellow famous Chiefs fan, and Spotify’s top streamed artist of 2023 Miss Taylor Swift, who was in attendance once again so support the man she made famous Mr Travis Kelce.

Rob Van Dam has had some of wrestling most iconic matches and ‘The Whole F’in Show’ has revealed who he would like to work his magic with from the current pool of WWE and AEW talent.

Speaking on “1 Of A Kind With RVD”, the former WWE Champion would name three AEW stars and one WWE star that he believes he could steal the show with.

“I would like to wrestle some of the current wrestlers that I’ve wrestled before like Chris Jericho or maybe Christian.

I know I’d have a kickass match with those guys… I think Ricochet is cool, he’s fun to watch… Pentagon’s brother [Rey Fenix], he’s always doing something that outdoes whatever we saw last time, he’s extreme. These guys are entertaining.”

Logan Paul’s WWE run has been an undisputable success.

Paul has managed to garner new eyes on the WWE product whilst also gaining the respect of the locker room and most impressively the internet wrestling community.

Currently in his first reign as WWE United States Champion, Paul was interviewed by Jazzy’s World about becoming a wrestler, something Paul believes is his calling.

Paul would state:

“WWE is the perfect thing for everything that I love in life.

The showmanship, the combat, the physical nature of it, the storytelling, the media.

It’s everything that I love. You know, we’re doing part of it right now but in a second I get to go out there and I get to go beat some people up. I

think it’s fun for me people seem to enjoy it and truthfully Jazzy I think at age 27 I found my calling.

I gotta say I’m good at it. Jazzy you’re looking at the US champ, the best WWE has seen in a while so I’m gonna be at it for a minute.”

It has been confirmed that A&E are set to release a new documentary on the life and career of the World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry.

A&E are the producers of the WWE Legends docuseries which has run since April 2021 and featured recounts of the lives of stars such as Dusty Rhodes, The Iron Sheik, The Undertaker, Bret Hart and more.

Well, it looks like series four in 2024 is going to feature AEW star Mark Henry.

Speaking on the Kurt Angle Show, Mark Henry would reveal that the documentary is coming in January 2024 and will also feature Kurt Angle.

“There’s a documentary on my life being released in January…January, there’s a documentary on A&E about my life. People are going to find out a lot more about me than they’d ever heard.

I don’t want to give nothing away, so just keep your ears open.

It’s going to be big. It’s going to be one of the bigger ones they’ve ever done.

There’s a lot of ground to cover, almost 3 hours.” [h/t Fightful]

The AEW roster looks like it could be getting even more stacked as one absent star looks “ready to return.”

Thunder Rosa has not competed in AEW for over a year since suffering a back injury that forced her to reluctantly relinquish the AEW Women’s Championship and almost ended her career.

Speaking with News 4 in San Antonio, Rosa would comment on her return status ahead of 2024:

“I am ready. Whenever (I get) that call and, you know, my boss says, ‘It’s time for you to return.’

I am super excited, and I cannot wait to show to the world and all you fans that have been supporting all this time that I am ready and I have a lot more to give.”

News 4 also reported that Rosa will be making her return the ring later this month when AEW comes to San Antonio, Texas, but this is yet to be confirmed.

“After a lengthy recovery, (Rosa) be returning to San Antonio to wrestle on December 23rd.” [h/t Wrestling Observer]

At NXT Deadline, Carmelo Hayes continued his strong 2023 by defeating newcomer Lexis King.

But Hayes’ milestone year isn’t slowing down yet as the former NXT Champion is set for a series of appearances on SmackDown as part of the new United States Championship contenders’ tournament.

Last night Shawn Michaels took to social media to announce that Hayes was the mystery NXT competitor previously announced for the event.

Michaels stated:

“When it was announced an NXT Superstar would be competing in the United States title tournament on SmackDown there was a line outside my office door…and the man at the head of that line and the man who will be representing NXT is Carmelo Hayes.”

Hayes will take on Grayson Waller in the first round of the bracket before setting up a potential clash with former NXT stars Kevin Owens and Austin Theory in the semi-finals if he can get past Australia’s finest.

Commenting on his upcoming match, Hayes noted:

“Who better to represent WWE NXT

They can’t lil bro us anymore, see you Friday Night.”

Former WWE Champion Dolph Ziggler was released by the company earlier this year and ‘The Show-off’ has sat quietly in the waiting whilst his non-compete clause was in effect.

However, as he looks to become an official free agent Ziggler has begun making plans for 2024 including his first match outside the WWE (and WWE developmental) in his career.

Nic Nemeth, the former Dolph Ziggler, will debut for WWC in Puerto Rico at their January 20th Euphoria show and he has set his sights on the “greatest of all time” in Puerto Rico… Ray Gonzalez.

Nemeth would comment, via Lucha Libre Online, on his return to the ring stating:

“Ladies and gentlemen, it doesn’t get any bigger than this.

That’s right, WWC Euphoria Puerto Rico, baby! The most wanted man in professional wrestling today, the hottest free agent, and I am laying it down, baby.

I’m laying down a challenge in Puerto Rico for Mr. Ray-tings, Ray González. You think you can step foot in the ring with me and go toe-to-toe with the best damn thing going today?

On January 20, WWC Euphoria, Mr. Ray-tings, the most wanted man Nic Nemeth is coming for you, if you got the guts.”

Speaking on his Snake Pit podcast, Roberts was asked to name the smelliest wrestler that he ever met and the answer did not take long to think of.

Roberts would name the late WWE Hall of Famer Vader, noting that the Mastodon stunk of “baby puke” and that his scent was “brutal.”

“Oh my god. It’s so simple. Vader…God almighty he reeked … Just horrible. Horrible. Smelt like baby puke … It was just brutal.” [h/t Wrestling Inc]

Roberts would also reveal that WrestleMania main eventer King Kong Bundy’s shoes smelt “so f*cking bad” that The Road Warriors once set them on fire to get rid of the smell.
