WWE To Partner With Another Sports Franchise; More Custom Titles To Be Created

WWE is going to collaborate with another major sports league in the United States in the near future.

Prior to the 2023 NFL season taking place, WWE partnered with the American Football franchise to release commemorative championship belts. 32 designs were unveiled, one for each team in the league, priced at $549.99. However, following the realisation by the online store that the Jacksonville Jaguars are owned by Shahid Khan, father of AEW owner Tony Khan, the title with the Florida-based team’s logo on was promptly removed and has not been relisted.

As reported by WrestleVotes, the next sports franchise to receive the endorsement is the NHL. Similar to the NFL deal, expect 32 new custom titles to be available to purchase in 2024:

On the heels of major success with the NFL in releasing commemorative championship titles of each team, I’m told the WWE & NHL have a deal in place for the same. Expect NHL championship titles to be available thru Fanatics sometime in the new year.

The promotion has frequently advertised the custom titles on their programming throughout the NFL season. Superstars and announcers have frequently held the title of the local sports team during the live broadcast. The custom NHL championships will also have an additional reach in North America as the hockey league also has teams in Canada. In June 2023, WWE presented Stanley Cup winners the Vegas Golden Knights with a traditional title but with custom nameplates.

WWE Produces New Merchandise To Address Recent Trademark Issues

Much like their production quality, few wrestling promotions can come close to WWE’s brand of licencing. The sports entertainment brand has put their logo and Superstars’ likenesses on virtually everything over the years including custom briefcases, lunchboxes and ornaments. A new piece of WWE merchandise takes a humourous look at the difficulties faced when trying to trademark a catchphrase.
