According to Kyle Newacheck, a biopic of the legendary ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper is in the works and it will be produced by a loved and famous name.

Newacheck, who has served as producer, director, actor and writer on the popular ‘Workaholics’ let slip that Seven Bucks Productions owned and operated by The Rock and former spouse Dany Garcia will helm the movie.

In an interview with This Is Important Podcast, the director revealed the project and announced that he will serve as director:

“The Rock’s company is doing ‘Rowdy’ Roddy, which I’m actually attached to now. They came to me with the idea of doing a ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper project. It’s with The Rock’s company and Jimmy Kimmel’s company. I am attached to direct it. They’re not looking for another director at this time because if, and when it gets made, I am the guy. We’re all about casting right now.”

On of the most popular and notorious professional wrestlers in history, the faux Scot rose to fame as the biggest heel of the eighties when he struck Cindi Lauper and initiated a WWF Championship rivalry with Hulk Hogan.

Arguably Hogan’s greatest ever rival, Roddy later won fans over with his boyish charm and superb vocal skills. The apple of fans’ eyes, Piper would go on to wars with Adrian Adonis, Ric Flair, Bret Hart and capture the WWF Intercontinental Championship at the 1991 Royal Rumble.

A deserved WWE Hall of Famer and respected actor, the kilt wearing, outspoken warrior passed away on July 31, 2015, in Hollywood, California.

Seven Bucks Productions is name behind several popular motion pictures and television serials, including Dwayne Johnson movies Jumanji, Baywatch, Skyscraper, Rampage, Fighting With My Family and Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw, as well as DC favourite, Shazam.

They will produce upcoming projects, Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods, Black Adam, Young Rock, the next installment of The Scorpion King franchise and a currently untitled wrestling sitcom set to star Dwyane Johnson and Will Ferrell plus much, much more.
