What Happened Between Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay After AEW Dynamite? [Video]

Will Ospreay Kenny Omega

After the United Empire took on Death Triangle in in the main event of Dynamite, an epic confrontation between Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay ensued!

Animosity between Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega has been apparent for years, with the two regularly trading shots on social media ever since Omega left New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2019. In a recent interview, Omega called Ospreay “forgettable,” saying that while he does great moves, he’s not memorable.

In response, Ospreay accused Omega of blocking him from debuting in AEW all the way back in 2021, and called The Cleaner a “little b*tch” when he got served with a cease & desist order for a merch design that poked fun at the “Best Bout Machine.”

Will Ospreay finally made his AEW debut just before Forbidden Door, and Kenny Omega returned to the promotion on the August 18th episode of Dynamite to team with the Young Bucks in the tournament to crown the first-ever AEW Trios Champions. Ospreay has previously made claims about what he’d do if he found himself in the same room with Omega, and that situation came to pass after the August 24th episode of Dynamite went off the air.

The main event of Dynamite saw Ospreay team with Kyle Davis and Mark Fletcher of the United Empire against PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo, and Rey Fenix of Death Triangle. When United Empire scored the victory following interference from a returning Kip Sabian, they stayed in the ring, only to be confronted by Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks once the show went off the air.

The trio made their way down the ramp and Kenny Omega took to the microphone, giving a tounge-in-cheek welcome to Ospreay’s group and asking his rival to speak.

“Please, give our friends from New Japan a wonderful AEW welcome. Now, I’m gonna do something very special that perhaps I shouldn’t. Don’t make me regret it. Because you guys are the guests and you guys won in the main event, give these people a piece of your minds. Tell these people how you feel. Thank these people for giving us their time tonight. Now that you guys are in the big leagues, that’s just one of your daily duties. See if you can handle the responsibility, Will. Hopefully you can handle it a little better than filling my shoes in New Japan.”

Ospreay didn’t mince words when responding, calling back to his previous insults hurled toward Omega and making fun of the former AEW Champion’s physique.

“Man, I didn’t know The Cleaner was a puss. Bruv, fill your shoes? The way I see things is the short time that I’ve been in New Japan I’ve done everything that you’ve done and more, you fragile little bitch. Mate, Kenny Omega was wearing a damn t-shirt when he came back. What’s the matter, hiding that belly of yours? Are the abs gone brother? Is that what it is?

“Look at you bruv, covered in tape. I just did the G1, went to the final, another five stars bruv. While I’ve been working, you’ve been sitting down and getting The Young Bucks to wipe your arse for you brother. Face it, you guys have built a wonderful empire here, but it wouldn’t be this good because you invited me to come over here mate. Money where your mouth is. Next week, United Empire vs. The Elite.”

Kenny Omega, who also cut a promo last week when Dynamite was off the air, ridiculed Ospreay and indicated that he’d drawn bigger crowds than Ospreay could hope to achieve. He also said that he was the reason the AEW crowd was familiar with Will Ospreay in the first place.

“Since there is absolutely no way that anyone is going to see or hear any of this. You wanna talk about doing everything that I’ve done except doing more of it and sooner. That could be true except the only difference is, I did it in front of full of sold out crowds and you did a G1 Final in front of what, 3,000 people? After the hardships that I faced to give people like you an opportunity Will, you would think that maybe you’d be able to do a little more with it.

“And one man’s opinion doesn’t really mean much to me Will, because none of these people know any of your matches. None of these people even know you, I introduced them to you. I introduced them to you a lot like I introduced you to the heavyweight scene in New Japan. I never got one thank you from you Will, not one.

“And here you are talking a whole lot of sh*t in front of all these people thinking you’re a real tough guy because you wrestled five matches in five days on a couple of indies and a couple of the lower card New Japan guys. And yeah, you lost to Okada, big deal. I’ve lost to Okada too, but I’ve also beaten Okada on the biggest stage of them all, something you could never do Will. The match that I’m talking about, that’s the one everyone calls the best one of all time, something no one says about your matches.

“In fact, no can even remember your matches Will. You see Will, I gave you the impossible task of filling my shoes, maybe I shouldn’t have given you a pie of shoes when you still haven’t grown out of your diapers.”
