Top Dolla Claims Match With Michael Cole Was Discussed “At Length”

Michael Cole could have returned to the ring for the first time in a decade to face Hit Row’s Top Dolla!

Top Dolla, who was released from the company on Thursday, ‘feuded’ with Michael Cole during his second WWE run. Their playful rivalry stemmed from Dolla botching a dive over the top rope in December 2022, leading Cole to remark “I guess there’s a reason he doesn’t do it that often.”

In the months following, the veteran commentator continued to roast Top Dolla for the botch and even started referring to him as “Flop Dollar” on commentary across various episodes of WWE SmackDown.

However, the now-former WWE star has revealed that their hilarious rivalry could have gone from being a war of playful jabs to a full-blown match that would have seen Cole compete inside a WWE ring for the first time since 2012!

In a response to a fan on X asking why he and Cole didn’t have a full-blown program together, Top Dolla claimed that he and Cole had talked “at length” about potentially having a match and that both of them were on board with the idea!

The two supposedly even planned out a finish for their proposed bout where Cole would have picked up the win by countering a Stalling Suplex from Dolla into a small package pin. However, Dolla noted that those in the company didn’t care for the feud evolving beyond Cole’s constant jabs.

“I offered to put Cole over & he wanted to do it too… we talked about it at length of how could build it… even had him winning by a small package out of a stalling suplex… they didn’t care beyond having him drag me every week… which made ppl talk about me so I loved it.”

Looking back on the infamous dive, the former WWE star revealed how it actually went on to save his life.

Who Else Was Released From WWE Alongside Top Dolla?

Earlier this week, WWE released several talents across the main roster and NXT roster following their merger with UFC into TKO Group Holdings. The company’s plans for major talent cuts were first reported by Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling.

At the time of writing, over 20 WWE talents are reported to have been released or have publicly announced the news. Most notable among them are Dolph Ziggler, Elias, Emma, Aliyah, and Matt Riddle.
