Matt Riddle Confirms WWE Exit, Details Behind His Release

Latest Update On Alleged Sexual Assault On WWE Superstar Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle is gone from WWE.

There was a great deal of speculation that Matt Riddle may be one of the several names to be let go but his name did not appear along with the September 21 releases. However, WrestleVotes had a report that there was one more name in the mix to be released this weekend and it ended up being Matt Riddle, who took to social media to announce that his time with WWE is over.

Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon.

Dave Meltzer recently wrote that Matt Riddle could be AEW’s next Jon Moxley.

Details Behind Matt Riddle’s WWE Release

Following Matt Riddle confirming his WWE exit, Fightful provided further perspective as to why he was released. Contrary to reports from last week, Riddle was not factored in the plans for the September 18 episode of Raw. Riddle was removed from any plans following his allegations of sexual assault towards an airport security officer at JFK Airport. Port Authority found no evidence that anything ever occurred.

While there is no clarity as to if the incident was the sole reason for his exit, a higher-up from WWE told Fightful that Riddle had one too many slip-ups with the company.

Riddle was reportedly back to training and in good spirits before his release. He signed with WWE back in 2018, but before that, he competed in MLW, GCW, and Evolve.
