WWE Fastlane 2023 Predictions

WWE Fastlane 2023

WWE Fastlane 2023 returns on Saturday, October 7th, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event was a staple of the pay-per-view calendar from 2015-2019, usually taking place as part of the ‘Road to WrestleMania‘, it had a hiatus in 2020 but came back in 2021.

The event sees the PLE in-ring return of John Cena who teams with LA Knight against the Bloodline. The last time fans saw Cena in PLE action was at WrestleMania 39 in a losing effort against Auston Theory.

The event could also see the on-screen debut of Jade Cargill. According to reports Cargill is not only on tap to be a member of the WWE Raw roster, but she is scheduled to at least be in attendance for the PLE.

The full WWE Fastlane 2023 card is as follows:

  • Seth Rollins (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura – Last Man Standing for the World Heavyweight Championship
  • LA Knight & John Cena vs. Solo Sikoa & Jimmy Uso
  • Iyo Sky (c) vs. Asuka vs. Charlotte – Women’s Championship
  • The LWO vs. Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits
  • Judgement Day (c) vs. Jey Uso & Cody RhodesUndisputed Tag Team Championships

Judgement Day (c) vs. Jey Uso & Cody Rhodes – Undisputed Tag Team Championships

WWE Fastlane 2023

The Judgment Day duo captured the gold at Payback in September after defeating Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a wild Street Fight. Since then, they have continued their rivalry with the former champions and their long-time ally Cody Rhodes.

In recent weeks, this rivalry has also put them into a feud with Jey Uso. At Payback, Rhodes facilitated Uso’s WWE return and move to Raw. As the rivalry has continued, Rhodes and Uso have fought side by side, and that’s taken them all the way to an Undisputed Tag Team Title shot.

Prediction: As dominant as the Judgement Day is there is still underlying tension between Balor and Preist. The insertion of JD McDonaugh has heightened this tension and could play a role in the outcome of this match. His desire to prove his loyalty will be the champions undoing as his interference will backfire and cost them the title. The team of Rhodes and Uso still have unfinished business with the Bloodline and a victory would allow them to appear across both shows and continue their storyline with the family. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso win, new Tag Team Champions crowned.

Iyo Sky (c) vs. Asuka vs. Charlotte – Women’s Championship

WWE Fastlane 2023

Asuka and Charlotte were both in the match when Iyo Sky cashed in her MITB briefcase to win the Women’s Championship. After missing out on the title at SummerSlam the two former Grand Slam champions have chasing the title around Sky’s waist and now they get their chance thanks to Bayley.

The champion hardly seemed pleased when Bayley created the Triple Threat match on her behalf. The leader of Damage CTRL had just lost a match at the hands of the Queen and to save face inserted Sky into a dangerous defence at the PLE.

Prediction: The setup of the match seems to spell trouble for Iyo Sky’s reign. Bayley’s interfering got her into this match and could cost her the title. However, Sky is more than capable of fending off her two opponents and will do so here in what could be match of the night. Iyo Sky retains.

The LWO vs. Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits

WWE Fastlane 2023

Bobby Lashley recruited the Street Profits to take over SmackDown and the newly-formed bad boy crew picked the LWO to be victims of their dominance. After the two factions got into several brawls, Rey Mysterio threw down the challenge for a three-on-three tag team match at the PLE.

When the challenge was accepted Lashley stated that the attacks had nothing to do with the LWO and more about Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins proving their worth.

Prediction: The alliance of Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits instantly turned heads and gave the duo of Ford and Dawkins a much-needed boost. The duo will show Lashley just what they are capable of at the expense of the LWO. Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits win.

LA Knight & John Cena vs. Solo Sikoa & Jimmy Uso

WWE Fastlane 2023

Since returning to the blue brand, John Cena has clashed with The Bloodline and was set to face Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso at the PLE alongside AJ Styles. But after the brothers incapacitated his would-be partner, Cena found himself in a two-on-one situation.

The following week saw Sikoa and Uso take advantage of the handicapped situation and dish out a vicious beatdown to Cena, but just as he was about to be splashed through the announce table, LA Knight hit the ring, fought the duo off and signed the contract to partner John Cena at Fastlane.

Prediction: Uso and Sikoa have been effectively running the Bloodline’s business in the absence of the Tribal Chief. However, the brothers haven’t been on the same page and their dominance is about to come unstuck when they face Knight and Cena. This match is all about continuing the rise of Knight who will cause further rifts in the Bloodline with a victory. Knight and Cena win.

Seth Rollins (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura – Last Man Standing for the World Heavyweight Championship

WWE Fastlane 2023

Shinsuke Nakamura may have lost to Seth Rollins at Payback, but he wasn’t done tormenting him yet. After the match, Nakamura attacked the exhausted champion, sending him reeling out of the ring.

Nakamura continued his mind games by refusing a rematch with Rollins, choosing instead to attack him again and again. Over the next few weeks, the King of Strong Style’s relentless assaults drove Rollins to give Nakamura his choice of match.

Prediction: Similar to their match at Payback, Rollins’ back injury will be a major factor at Fastlane. Since becoming the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion he has pushed his body to the limit defending it valiantly but it feels as if this may be just one defence too many. Nakamura’s villainy has been spectacular during this feud and he will exploit the champion’s weakness to win his first World Title. Shinsuke Nakamura wins, new champion crowned.
