Becky Lynch Names Dream Opponent For WWE WrestleMania 40

Becky Lynch looks to recreate her WrestleMania moment from 2019.

With 2023 nearing its end fans are starting to predict which matches could feature at the marquee event in April 2024. While Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk and Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes look to be all but a certainty, the major championships in the women’s division look more uncertain, especially since it has been announced that Charlotte Flair will not be a part of the Philadelphia event.

After losing the NXT Women’s Championship to Lyra Valkyria in October, Lynch has not been involved in the title picture, having been instead occupied with Damage CTRL and getting ready to face Nia Jax at WWE Raw: Day 1 on New Year’s Day. However, when the Jax problem has been dealt with, The Man wants a match with Mami.

Speaking with Strutting From Gorilla, Lynch was asked who she wants to face off again next. In another first-time-ever matchup, Lynch put it out in the world that she wants a WrestleMania showdown with Rhea Ripley:

There are so many talented up and comers. One match that we haven’t gotten to yet, numero uno on the docket is I’ve got to shut up Nia Jax, first. We haven’t had that match, which is unbelievable to think that Nia Jax and I haven’t gone one-on-one in a WWE ring, but it’s true. Then, there is the next stop, which is taking the title off Rhea Ripley.

That title, when I hold that title, that title is the main event of every show. Her title has been seen in many main events, but not because she’s been defending it, no, just because she’s being the accompaniment to the main event. I can’t have that. I’m sick of that. I’m sick of that and I’m going to take that title back off her, preferably at WrestleMania,”

The last time that Lynch won a championship was at WrestleMania 35, where The Man would defeat Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey in the main event to win the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.
