AEW Champion MJF Makes Surprise Appearance At Independent Promotion

MJF Set To Break All-Time AEW Record

MJF recently made a surprise hometown return to Create A Pro Wrestling.

On December 14th, Create A Pro Wrestling held its Frostbite 2 event at the company’s academy in Hicksville, New York. Fans in attendance were in for a surprise as AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman made an unadvertised appearance and received a thunderous ovation from the crowd. MJF trained at Create a Pro under the tutelage of Brian Myers and Pat Buck when he was beginning his career.

The company posted a short video of the star’s entrance and crowd ovation to their social media, but did not show MJF’s address to the crowd beyond him saying “Hello.”

Fellow New Yorker and AEW star Max Caster was also on the card, defeating Sebastian Amor in singles action.

MJF Is Currently Injured

The main event of Full Gear saw Maxwell Jacob Friedman once again defend his AEW World Championship against Jay White. After suffering an attack from The Gunns earlier in the night, Friedman’s storyline injury put the main event match in doubt, but he made a triumphant return just before the match was set to begin.

Despite retaining his championship against White, MJF left the bout with injuries that were unfortunately not part of a planned storyline. Not only did dislocate his hip when delivering an elbow drop onto White after the announce table broke in advance, he also hurt his shoulder in the match.

MJF is avoiding surgery for his multiple injuries and is expected to go through with his planned bout against Samoa Joe at Worlds End on December 30th. On the December 6th episode of Dynamite, Friedman was written off TV following a mysterious backstage attack from The Devil that left him knocked out and surrounded by broken glass. He did not appear on the December 13th episode.
