Tony Khan Addresses AEW Criticism; Claims They Are

In recent months AEW has experienced its fair share of criticism from fans online and Tony Khan has spoken out about it.

The promotion has been marred by controversy this year. The firing of CM Punk in the summer saw them lose one of their biggest stars while booking decisions and lack of storylines have resulted in a poor televised product, which has received backlash from certain sections of the audience.

Further unwanted attention on his company came in the form of reports that WWE executives had met with representatives of Warner Bros. Discovery to discuss a potential new television deal for Monday Night RAW.

The reported meeting between the two corporations has certainly sparked some speculation and concern among fans. The prospect of WWE moving Raw to a Warner Bros. Discovery-owned network, such as TNT or TBS, could potentially reduce AEW’s airtime and viewership. Additionally, it could lead to a shift in focus and resources away from Dynamite, which has experienced significant growth in recent years.

Tony Khan addressed the criticism surrounding AEW

Speaking with the media at the ROH Final Battle media scrum, Khan was about and addressed the criticism claiming that they are “under constant attack” from fans and media. Khan said that he believes that All Elite Wrestling is in a good position and that the criticism is often unfair.

To be AEW is to be under constant attack. You do a great show and the next day somebody’s saying something negative. You do five great shows in a row, somebody says something negative.

You break the ticket record for the most tickets ever sold for a wrestling show in the history of the world and somebody has something bad to say about it. At this point, I don’t worry about it. We just need to go out and do great shows week after week like we did. We were the number one show on cable this week on Wednesday.

We beat every single show on TV on Wednesday out of hundreds and hundreds of shows across hundreds of networks. And if we continue doing it, everybody here’s going to be in a good position.
