Major Update On MJF’s AEW Contract Status; Rumored Talks With WWE

MJF To Defend ROH Tag Team Titles Alone At AEW WrestleDream

MJF is All Elite, and according to a new report, it appears he’s staying that way.

Current AEW World Heavyweight Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman hasn’t been shy about talking about his eventual contract expiration on television, regularly referencing the “bidding war of 2024.” Back in August, Friedman confirmed that his contract would expire in January, and also made it clear that he was looking for big money from whichever company secured his services beyond that date.

Friedman hasn’t shied away from mentioning the likes of Nick Khan and Triple H when talking about impending contract negotiations, and mentioned in a recent interview that while there were things he liked about WWE, Tony Khan was trying desperately to keep him.

However, references to the bidding war have slowed as of late, and according to a new report from Haus of Wrestling, there seems to be a good reason why. The report states that according to several WWE sources, Friedman is believed to have quietly re-signed with All Elite Wrestling.

In recent news, Cody Rhodes has discussed the probability of MJF joining WWE.

In a new interview, MJF clarified the rumours surrounding his status with AEW.

Is MJF In Talks With WWE?

Haus of Wrestling reports that according to one higher-up within WWE, there are “zero talks” between MJF and WWE, and that it’s believed the star’s claims of free agency in 2024 are false as he’s believed to have signed a deal with AEW through 2027.

Another WWE source was quoted as saying:

“This is a completely in his head storyline.”

The report also quotes another WWE source as confirming MJF’s long-term deal with AEW, saying:

“1000%. I was told a while ago he is under a long-term deal, which is why they stopped pushing the 2024 stuff.”

At this time, Haus of Wrestling has not heard back from AEW with any comments on MJF’s current contract status.

Unfortunately for MJF, the AEW World Champion suffered an injury at Full Gear.
