Jim Ross To Return To TV On Upcoming Edition Of AEW Dynamite

JIm Ross making his entrance in AEW

Jim Ross will sit behind the commentary desk once again on the neck episode of AEW Dynamite.

The Oklahoma native is expected to receive a warm welcome from the live fans in attendance as All Elite Wrestling rolls into Oklahoma City for the latest instalment of Dynamite on the road to Worlds End.

During the Control Center preview show, Tony Schiavone made the announcement that JR will be in attendance for Dynamite:

“Come join us for some great action in the Continental Classic and more, including welcoming back JR. That’s right, Jim Ross will be with us tonight in Oklahoma City. We’ll celebrate the holidays with JR and have some great action, as we also help Toys for Tots,”

At this time, it is unknown whether or not this is a full return for the announcer or a one-off as AEW is in Oklahoma for the upcoming taping.

Jim Ross Absent From AEW For Multiple Weeks

Back in early November, Jim Ross announced that he would be taking a lengthy absence from AEW as his leg needed to heal. Doctors advised Ross not to travel as flying would slow the healing process and could make the issue worse. Ross has continued his Grilling JR podcast each week with Conrad Thompson while away from TV, where he has kept the fans up to date with his road to recovery.

With Ross reportedly yet to re-sign a new deal, this topic has also been discussed. However, following more than 50 years in the industry, JR has seen it all and is more concerned with his health than what the next stages are in his announcing career.

On a previous episode of his podcast, Jim Ross stated that his initial goal was to return at the Worlds End pay-per-view:

“I have the corner of my eye thought about the pay-per-view coming up that you just mentioned on Long Island. But that’s a hope that I would be healthy enough and able to work and work to the level that I need to work.

“I don’t have a date. It’s just hard to plan. I don’t want to set myself up for disappointment. If I’m going to do something and I say I’m going to do it then it’s going to get done but I can’t commit to that right now because I still got some ongoing health issues that need to be addressed and they are being addressed.”

H/t to Fightful.
