Live AEW Dynamite Updates, Results, & Reactions

That’s all she wrote, folks! What a week for AEW Dynamite; we saw the debut of the newest AEW star, Roderick Strong, and some incredible matches over the night. We still have an episode of Rampage to look forward to this Friday and a big episode of Dynamite that is only just beginning to take shape. It was announced this evening that “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry & Darby Allin will team up next Wednesday to battle AEW World Champion MJF & Sammy Guevara. If Jungle Boy and Darby can manage to pull out the win, they will be added to the World Title match at Double or Nothing in May.

Also, a reminder that Rampage starts at 5:30 PM Eastern due to the NHL playoffs on TNT.

Bryan Danielson grabs the mic and says KT is the only professional wrestler in the ring because he got the win. As for Kenny, he thinks his time is behind him who lived his best days in Japan. Bryan Danielson says KT is a prodigy who should be training with the Blackpool Combat Club instead of The Elite. BCC suddenly appears and attacks Omega, beating him down. The Young Bucks enter!

They superkick the heads off of Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta on the ramp, then running to the ring and hitting Mox with a double superkick. Omega wants to stab the eye out of Mox with the screwdriver but Konosuke Takeshita is begging him not to do it. The moment of hesitation allows the BCC to get back on the attack, but they leave Konosuke out of it and offer him a spot in their group. Takeshita says no and is low blowed and stabbed in the face with the screwdriver as AEW Dynamite comes to an end.

During the break, Kenny tried on multiple occasions to regain some control of the match, but Butcher and Blade trapped him in their corner. We come back from the commercial with Omega and The Blade trading various strikes, kicks, and chops. Kenny starts gaining the advantageand kicks Blade’s leg out from under him. Kenny with a leg drop to get the tag in on KT. Butcher runs in and eats a crossbody from KT. He launches off the ropes with a huge clothesline to ground Butcher, followed by two pump kicks in the corner.

KT has his vertical suplex reversed but comes back with another one. How persistent! Takeshita tries for a finishing knee strike but Blade intercepts it and allows he and his teammate to hit a flurry of tandem moves. Omega breaks up the count just before two! KT hits a hurricanrana on Butcher and then a blue thunder bomb for a close two count. He knees Blade in the face, allowing Kenny to deliver a snap dragon suplex. Omega over the top rope with a swanton splash on Blade! KT hits the power drive knee on Butcher for the three count! KT and Kenny win it!

Instead of the full BCC, it’s currently just Danielson at the commentary table. The match gets started with KT and Blade clashing, but Blade immediately gets the advantage with loud chops ringing off KT’s chest. KT uses a forearm and a heel kick to regain control; he then trades tags with Kenny Omega over and over to hit tandem offense. Omega with the you can’t escape, and while he reaches the ropes, KT tags in. He hits a top rope senton splash for a two count.

Blade bites Kenny and chops at his chest. He also hurricanranas him out of the ring. He hypes up the audience for a huge dive but Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford distract him from his target. Butcher and Kip Sabian team up while the referee is distracted to attack Omega as we go to our final break!

Konosuke Takeshita & Kenny Omega vs. The Butcher & The Blade is next on the card, but Blackpool Combat Club is coming out to watch nearby.

We come back from the break with Jade dominating the champion over the course of the break. Taya tries to come back with kicks and clotheslines, followed by a blue thunder bomb for a close two count! Jade reverses Taya and shoves her face-first into the top turnbuckle. She sits her on the top and attempts a superplex, which takes a moment to secure, but she gets it!

Jade with a Canadian destroyer! Dang! That was impressive! Jade tries to hit the jaded, which Taya reverses and uses a double stomp on the abdomen of Jade for another two. Taya was about to hit her finisher but she’s not allowed to! Jade with a victory roll for the victory! She remains undefeated! Taya beats down Jade’s posse and nearly hits her finished on referee Aubrey Edwards out of rage.

We see Britt Baker backstage and she says she wants to get to the point. Britt and Jamie make it clear that this is only the beginning of a war. And the only way this will be over is if they send them to the morgue!

Let’s see what happens here! Will Jade finally suffer her first loss? Taya is also undefeated in AEW at this point, so something’s gotta give!

The bell rings and these two powerhouses come face to face. They lock up, with neither woman getting a clear advantage. Jade slaps Taya, but eats one in return. Jade throws her into the corner, delivering a chop. Taya explodes out of the corner with a hard clothesline! She mounts Jade and punches away, but Jade escapes. Taya can’t hit her finisher, so she changes directions. This allows Jade to rally and use a rake to the eyes, followed by more strikes.

Taya kicks at Jade and throws her over the top rope. Cargill tries to skin the car and come over the top ropes, but Taya sends her back out. Jade pulls out Taya’s legs on the apron and forces her into a split. Jade with a reverse DDT off the apron as we go to another break!

We see a new episode of QTV where QT Marshall goes over all of the unfortunate things that have happened to their team. Hobbs is infuriated about losing the TNT Title. Marshall says it’s a conspiracy between everyone they were against last week, but he promises Hobbs will wear gold again. Hobbs says fix it, so Marshall says that they will pivot to plan B.

Jade Cargill vs. Taya Valkyrie is next!

Adam Cole says he knows Chris Jericho can hear him right now. He says it’s one thing to be jumped by the JAS, but the fact that they set up that beatdown of Britt Baker, it was unforgivable. Cole says he’s gonna hurt Jericho now, and he wants him to come out immediately! He says he’s going to bear him “within an inch of his life.”

It takes a while but Jericho’s music eventually hits. Jericho appears on the screen and says he doesn’t want to be anywhere near a man like Cole who let the love of his life get beaten. He says Cole didn’t do anything to stop it and he’s a coward. He won’t mess with him tonight, but the Jericho Appreciation Society will. Cole is getting absolutely destroyed by JAS, but all of a sudden, Bandido and Orange Cassidy come out to help!

It’s still not enough for the numbers game. A 4 vs. 3 attack ensues until, finally, Roderick Strong comes out! Roderick is here! He clears out the ring! Cole and Roddy hug as the segment ends.

Backstage, MJF and Sammy Guevara are infuriated. Friedman says that Tony Khan has been causing issues ever since he won the World Title. Wherever he decides to go when his contract is up, Friedman says he’ll bring the World Title. Guevara tries to ride out of the arena with Maxwell but he’s rejected.

Adam Cole is making a beeline for the ring!

During the break, Guevara stayed on the attack, following up on the cheap low blow he delivered to Darby. We come back with Darby finally getting in some offense with a reverse DDT on Sammy. Darby tries for a rapid suicide dive onto Sammy but he catches him with a cutter in mid-air! Guevara is bringing out a table now! He picks Darby up but is tackled into the ring barricade. Allin with several chops and strikes to set Guevara up on the wooden table. He climbs to the top rope but Tay Melo interrupts to stop him.

Guevara hits a Spanish Fly into the ring on Darby, getting a two count for his trouble. Sammy then puts Darby on the table and climbs to the top rope. A 630 splash right through Darby! He landed close to his head, too! The crowd is in awe! Sammy tries for the count out victory but Darby comes in at 8! Guevara and MJF are shocked, inspiring Friedman to walk down the ring from commentary. Darby takes control, even hitting a shotgun dropkick to set him up for the coffin drop. Tay Melo interferes in the match so MJF can come in and toss the skateboard over to Darby. Sammy drops to his back and acts like he was hit with the board. This causes a DQ! Sammy wins by DQ!

Tony Khan is talking to Tony Khan through his headset, though. Jungle Boy runs down and saves Darby from an ongoing attack on Allin. Darby looks infuriated that Jungle Boy hadn’t come out earlier to help him out. MJF rips them both and tells Darby and Jack Perry that they’re going back to the undercard “where they belong.”

Tony Schiavone grabs a microphone and announces that Khan has decided to make a tag team match for next week where Jungle Boy & Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara & MJF, and if the babyfaces win, it’ll be a four-way pillars match at Double or Nothing for the World Championship!

The winner of this one heads to Double or Nothing to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing. Darby enters first, followed by Sammy Guevara. MJF comes out after Guevara to join the commentary team.

The bell rings and we’re off! Darby and Sammy share some words until Sammy slaps him in the face. Darby comes back enraged, choking him and delivering a headlock takeover to keep control. He continues with a wrist lock that Sammy tries to escape from. He nearly does, but Darby drops into a side head lock to stop him. They reverse each other several times until Darby connects with his signature arm drag off the ropes. They collide and Darby ends up still in control. Sammy uses a backflip to avoid an attack from Darby and then takes his legs out from under him.

They struggle in the middle of the ring until Darby comes through with a Texas cloverleaf. Guevara makes it over to the ropes, though. Sammy spits in Darby’s eye and knees him in the back to send him out of the ring. He’s thrown into the ring post and gets busted open a bit. Guevara tries to suplex Darby over the top rope, but it doesn’t work out for him. Darby then transitions into an attempt at a german suplex off the apron. Sammy distracts the referee to give Darby a low blow and an asai moonsault as we head to a break!

RJ City is backstage getting the crowd hype about The Elite segment when, all of a sudden, Jon Moxley attacks him. BCC says they’re going to leave scars tonight on Dynamite.

Cage and Luchasaurus walk down to the ring, where Wardlow lays down the TNT Title to challenge him. Cage hesitates just before getting inside the ring. It looks like he thinks better about the scenario; he climbs down off the apron and whispers something to Luchasaurus.

We go backstage to Sammy Guevara and MJF being interviewed by Renee Paquette. MJF tells Sammy that this is his moment, giving him a kiss on the forehead. MJF says people complaining about him making the four pillar tournament with Tony Khan so he could avoid the fatal-4-way can get over it. Sammy says the same to people who think he’s cheap for throwing the match at Double or Nothing after he was paid off.

Sammy and MJF trade gifts. Sammy got MJF a matching vest and MJF got Sammy one of his signature scarfs. They hug as we go to another break.

They didn’t give this guy an entrance or anything. One clothesline and a powerbomb symphony later, and this guy was done. Wardlow wins it!

Afterward, celebrated with Arn Anderson in the ring. Arn grabs the mic and tells the guy that lost that he needs an ice bath and a 12-pack. He compares Wardlow and Arn as beauty and the beast. Why did he pick Wardlow to manage? Because he can beat monsters like Powerhouse Hobbs is a plus, but a big part of it is that he knows who is who in the locker room. He thinks Wardlow is AEW’s dynasty. Nobody has what he has, according to Arn, and he can take AEW to the next generation on the top.

But they need to agree on some things. Wardlow might have to pull an eye out, bite a thumb off, or grab a chair and hit someone over the head. Cue Christian Cage and Luchasaurus!

Tony Khan appeared tonight and revealed that, thanks to Martha Hart, the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament will return this year! The majority of the matches will take place during their tour in Canada, with the finals culminating at AEW Doube or Nothing in May!

During the break, the momentum kept switching hands, but as soon as Dax would gain some steam, Jarrett would shut him down. He locks Dax into a tight sleeper hold but Dax escapes by using a stunner. They start trading right hands, but Jeff reverses into a kneebreaker on Jeff. Dax goes for a sharpshooter but he’s kicked off into the turnbuckle. He then avoids Jeff’s running attack in the corner and delivers a flying headbutt off the top.

He tries for a piledriver, but Jeff reverses and forces him into a backslide. Dax gets the piledriver! But, no, it’s still only enough for the near-fall. Jeff rols out of the ring and tries to escape, so Dax chases after him and chops him back towards the ring. Jeff slides back inside the ring, avoiding Dax’s dropkick off the top rope in the process. He catapults Dax into the top turnbuckle. Several more reversals lead to an inside cradle from Dax for another two!

Lots of technical stuff during this one, but Dax has become more desperate, rocking Jeff with a short-arm clothesline. Sonjay Dutt comes out of nowhere and nearly costs Dax the match! He chases Sonjay around the ring, but as soon as he slides back inside, Jeff hits him with the stroke for the three count! Dax was screwed!

Sonjay gives Jeff the AEW Tag Team Title belt, which he acts like is his now. He says it’s his.

The bell rings and these two technicians lock up. Dax pushes him into the corner where they glare at one another. Jarrett with an arm drag, but then he hides in the ropes as Dax comes for him Jarrett with a wrist lock; Dax rolls through and gets a headlock takeover. Jarrett uses a headscissor to get out of it. Dax stops a taunt from Jeff but it doesn’t do much for him. He’s struck while running the ropes, followed by a scoop slam from Jeff.

Harwood eventually makes it up and hits his horribly loud chops to Jeff. He Irish whips him into the corner but Jarrett elbows him to switch up momentum. He stomps away at Dax in the corner and talks some smack to Dax. Harwood responds by hitting more chops and a leg drop for a two count. He places Jeff on the top rope and attempts for a superplex. Jeff tosses him abdomen-first off the top as we head to another break!

We return from the break with Jungle Boy and Darby Allin backstage with Renee Paquette. She says Darby requested some time to speak with Jungle Boy — he tells him that what happened between them last week might have been too far. He says they don’t have to like each other but should respect each other. If Sammy and MJF are going to team up, he thinks JB needs to have his back.

Jack agrees that maybe they took things a little too far, but he wishes they were out there battling tonight. Darby agrees but says he would get to beat him again in that case. It appears JB will accompany Allin to the ring tonight to try and ward off MJF from interfering.

Jeff Jarrett comes out but Sonjay Dutt and his posse are ejected from ringside immediately. Dax enters next, with Cash willingly leaving before asked. It’s legitimate 1 on 1 tonight.

After Cassidy vs. Bandido, Bandido awarded Orange the belt, and Orange gave Bandido some of his signature sunglasses.

We see Adam Cole backstage, saying that he’s calling out Chris Jericho tonight, and if he doesn’t respond to it, he’s going to find Jericho himself! Orange Cassidy walks up and he and Bandido respond to the drama between Cole and Jericho with a simple, “Oh.”

Up next, Dax Harwood vs. Jeff Jarrett!

During the commercial break, Cassidy attempted to stay in the match, but Bandido dominated him with several submission maneuvers. We return after an insane delayed vertical suplex from Bandido that’s turned into a stundog millionaire! Cassidy tries for a tornado DDT, but Bandido then catches him with an emphatic vertical suplex that grounds them both. Bandido hits with hard chops, which Cassidy responds with light, lazy chops. Bandido with a super kick and a pump kick. Cassidy reverses in the corner and slams Bandido’s face on the turnbuckle over and over.

Orange climbs to the top rope and hits a crossbody. He also gets a Michinoku driver on Bandido but it only allows him a close two-count. Orange actually gets the suicide dive this time, but as he climbs to the top, he eats a kick that sends him to the apron. Bandido drags him to the corner and superplexes him from the apron and into the ring. He follows it with a cutter that gives Bandido another close two.

Cassidy kicks and elbows Bandido in the corner, but Bandido keeps on him. He goes for the x marks the spot, but Cassidy hits elbows to avoid it. He tries for a crossbody, but Bandido grabs Cassidy in a one-arm press to the mat. A frog splash follows, but it’s only another two count! That was so close! Cassidy gets the mouse trap but Bandido escaped. Cassidy delivers the orange punch and the beach break for a 3! Cassidy gets it!!!

Bandido follows with his entrance; this one is for the AEW International Championship! The bell rings and the fans chant for Cassidy. He almost does his signature pockets pose, but Bandido stops him and ends up doing a taunt of his own. The crowd chants for Bandido, too! Orange Cassidy with a lackadaisical cartwheel off the ropes. He almost does the pockets again, but Bandido stops him and they begin trading reversals. Arm drags, leg swips, and a nip up from Bandido follows.

They pose again, with Cassidy actually putting Bandido’s hands into his own pockets. Leg scissors and the pockets taunt from Cassidy while the crowd goes wild! Bandido slides into the ring and eats a hurricanrana and a dropkick that propels him out of the ring. The crowd grows louder as Cassidy comes off the ropes and attempts a suicide dive — instead, Bandido catches him and drops him face-first onto the ring barricade.

Bandido stays on him with strikes and slaps, then tosses Cassidy back inside for a 1 count. Bandido Irish whips Cassidy into the corner and spears him. Shoulder tackles and an enziguri follow. Bandido delivers a version of the stretch muffler that looks brutal, trapping Cassidy in the middle of the ring until he finally slides over to the ropes. Bandido delivers a kick that sends Cassidy outside the of the ring. He then soars of the top with a swanton splash on Orange as we head to comercial

Here we go, ladies and gents! It’s time for another action-packed episode of AEW Dynamite!

We see the intro followed by the explosive pyrotechnics. First out is Orange Cassidy!

Former WWE Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax made a surprise return to the company at the 2023 Royal Rumble with a memorable showcasing of her talent before ultimately being eliminated. However, after the event, Jax once again disappeared from WWE television.

It appears that during that absence, Jax has been putting in work to get in some of the best shape of her life. As shown in the image below, Jax displays just how muscular she’s becoming after losing 48 pounds. Only time will tell if Jax comes back for a long-term run with WWE or another notable promotion.

Another Wednesday, another Dynamite! And for the second time this month, AEW President and Founder Tony Khan will be appearing on the show to speak. One can assume this will be another announcement, considering Khan typically only appears on the show for significant reasons.

So, the question is, what will he have to say? Last time he was on the show, Khan appeared with Nigel McGunniess to reveal that AEW All In would take place at Wembley Stadium in the UK — the first time AEW has been to the area and the first time they will hold a stadium show.

LWO has made an impact in WWE despite not being the winningest team as of late. The crowd loves them, and they remain optimistic about what lies ahead despite being knocked down a few times by The Judgment Day.

The LWO was a group originally made famous in AAA and through Eddie Guerrero when he was part of WCW, but nowadays it consists of Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro, Zelina Vega, and their leader of sorts, Rey Mysterio. Appearing on WWE’s The Bump, Rey opened up about why he decided to resurrect the group for this current generation to experience.

The idea was already sitting in the back of my head and in my heart that I wanted to recreate this new version of the LWO, most imortantly because of the representation of what the LWO means, you know? So to have my crew together: Legado del Fantasma, Zelina Vega, and myself, we’re a strong crew standing together. Individually, we’re strong, as well, but when we’re together, nothing can take us down. So, I’m completely honored to share the ring with my people and to represent what we stand by.

Trinity Fatu, formerly known as Naomi in WWE, is one of the more recognizable faces in the world of women’s wrestling. She’s a former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion, and she was making major headlines last year when she and Sasha Banks walked out on WWE as the Women’s Tag Team Champions.

It’s been speculated where Fatu would end up post-WWE for months now, but new reports reveal where her focus is now set. PWInsider delivered a major update explaining that Fatu will make a surprise debut for Impact Wrestling at their Chicago, Illinois tapings this weekend. It will be an ongoing thing, too, as she’s expected to have a legitimate stint in Impact.

Zelina Vega is set to have the biggest match of her career coming up on May 6, 2023, at the WWE Backlash premium live event in Puerto Rico. She’ll appear in front of her hometown audience and challenge Rhea Ripley of The Judgment Day for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

But before the match, Vega stopped by WWE’s The Bump to discuss how she was feeling heading into the bout. Rey Mysterio appeared, as well, and brought Zelina to tears as he explained how confident he was in her abilities.

The fact that she has the opportunity to win some gold representing her country, representing her people, representing Puerto Rico — this is actually something that the LWO needs right now, and again, if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. There’s going to be more opportunities, but I know and I can bet my heart that she’ll come home with some gold around her waist.

WWE Hall of Famer Edge has been a part of the professional wrestling industry since 1992, and with over 30 years under his belt, he’s developed a keen eye for what works best in the grand scheme of things in WWE. On April 6, 2014, Brock Lesnar shocked the world when he defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 to become the only man to defeat him at the event after 22 years.

In Edge’s opinion, he thinks a better call would have been to have “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns be the first man to defeat him when the two collided years later at WrestleMania 33.

“Yes, I do. And the only reason I say that is because I don’t think Brock needed it. He was already a world-beater. He was already UFC Heavyweight Champion. He was already all of these things whereas Roman was just on the cusp. If he were the first guy, oh man! I mean, obviously, it still worked out pretty well [for Roman]. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin shocked the world when he returned at WrestleMania 38 last year and battled Kevin Owens in a solid return match. This year’s WrestleMania, unfortunately, didn’t include an appearance from “The Texas Rattlesnake,” as Austin previously explained was due to him working on his new A&E series, “Stone Cold Takes On America.”

But that doesn’t mean Austin has hung up his boots for good. In a new interview with WESH2, Austin kept hope alive that he will come back for one more match someday.

“In the future, I’m not saying I will get back in the ring, but like I said at 38, if the stars align, anything could happen.”

We’re only a few hours away from Dynamite, so let’s look at what tonight’s episode has in store! As mentioned earlier, we’ll see the finals of the Four Pillars Tournament between Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin. We’ll also see Orange Cassidy defending the International Championships against the always-impressive Bandido, and Jade Cargill defending the TBS Championship against Taya Valkyrie in a match where Taya can’t use her “Road to Valhalla” finisher.

CM Punk has been making headlines all week – something that’s become commonplace since he returned to wrestling in September 2021. First, he shows up at Monday Night Raw to speak with various people backstage, including Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and now, it’s been revealed that the rumored meeting between Chris Jericho and Punk in AEW has indeed taken place.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Jericho, and Punk met up sometime last week. It was expected that the two veteran superstars would clash during the meeting, but apparently, it was relatively uneventful. The belief amongst some people backstage is that the meeting went well enough that Punk and Jericho could agree to work together in some capacity in the future.

How are we today, folks? Welcome back! We’ve got an action-packed episode of AEW Dynamite in store for us tonight that will be main evented by Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin battling to determine who will challenge MJF for the AEW World Heavyweight Title at Double or Nothing next month. Two Championship matches are also on the books, so prepare for some exciting viewing.

The news keeps coming this week! Social media is blowing up in response to a lawsuit claiming that Vince McMahon and WWE have created “offensively racist” scripts in recent years. This includes a segment where Bianca Belair would have stereotypically removed her earrings to get into a fight and Apollo Crews using the exaggerated Nigerian accent he applied to his character before returning to NXT last year.

We also got more details on the role “Stone Cold” Steve Austin would have played if he had come back to WWE for a match at WrestleMania 39. Who would be a more prominent opponent than Kevin Owens, whom he defeated at WM 38? How about Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns? Yes, that was pitched to Austin before it was confirmed that his busy schedule wouldn’t allow him to be part of this year’s “Show of Shows.”
